History

Quintessential Brass was formed when our previous horn player, Tim Pocock, decided during the Covid Lockdown that he would get his musical family to play on the doorstep. He started to arrange tunes for his eclectic group of instruments to perform. Once he has started he just couldn't stop!  He decided to arrange and perform music for a brass group. Once it was allowed five brass players met weekly to read through and perform his arrangements. These meetings just seemed to carry on once all restrictions had been lifted. In November 2026 the group will be celebrating its 5 year anniversary. During this period the group (Simon, Alison, Ian and David) has remained remarkably stable, although Tim has moved up north the horn seat was soon filled by Clive.

The group has been busy with rehearsals and has performed many concerts in and around the Marlow area. We have also toured to France twice, playing in several churches around the Loire region, along with a winery and outside performances in Angers.

Repertoire

We play a very wide selection of music, from original compositions such as the Malcolm Arnold and Ewald quintets, to popular film and jazz standards. We literally have something for every taste.
